Wymeswold Open Gardens

This year, the Wymeswold Open Gardens will take place on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June 2009, between 2pm and 6pm. Once again more than twenty gardens and some village allotments will be open to the public as Wymeswold hosts their annual walkabout event.

Last year more than £6000 was raised for local and international charities and 2009 promises to be another cracking year.

Entry costs just £3 for a passport to the gardens which is valid for both days, so if you don't manage to see all the gardens on Saturday, a return visit costs you nothing! Accompanied children get around free of charge.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy the many scarecrows which will be dotted around the village as part of the fun.

There will be cream teas, teas with homemade cakes, books, jigsaws, plant stalls, garden ornaments, willowcraft demonstrations and sales, musical entertainment, and Morris Dancers. There will be an art exhibition by local artists in the Methodist Church. There will also be a wide variety of plant stalls which prove hugely popular with our visitors. For the first time we're delighted to welcome a stall from Tissington Nurseries.

This event is in aid of St. Mary's Church, the Methodist Church Appeal Funds & environmental village projects. A donation will also be sent to the Seeds for Africa appeal.

The weekend's celebrations will be brought to a close with Songs of Praise in St. Mary's Church at 7.30pm.
