Cricket Club 2012 AGM
Report of the 2012 Annual General Meeting held on Wednesday 22nd February
Rob Pitman is the new Saturday first team captain with Andrew Shelton kindly offering to stand as vice-captain. Phil Parkes continues as second team captain and Andy Matthews has agreed to become vice-captain.
Jason Whowell will captain the revived Thursday Evening League team which is planned to be mostly based around the existing U17 squad - exams etc permitting. James Barry will be the Vice-captain.
The other officers of the club are Dick Pitman as President, Rich Bowley as Chairman, Jason Whowell as Treasurer, Nick Shaw as Secretary, Mark Dunton managing the U13s and Rik Matthams joining the committee as Social Secretary.
On the ground duties, Andrew and Richard Shelton will now be looking after all ground matters themselves. No-doubt they would appreciate some help with mowing around the pavilion, banks and scorebox which all included in theParish Council contract – provided the club is awarded it.
Sam Collington has kindly agreed to organise the team for the two friendly games against Sutton-on-the-Hill on Sunday 1st July and Sat 8th September.
Jason Whowell reported that financially the club made a surplus of £528 for the season. The major expenditure was £900 for the end-of-season work on the square and without the profit from the Race Night the club would have made a loss.
There will be a ‘working morning’ on the ground in April – probably on Sunday 15th April.
The popular coaching sessions for 7-15 year-olds will recommence in early May and these sessions will be led by Alex Easton. The sessions will be from 10am until 11.30am on Sunday mornings and full details will be available from the Secretary.
Should you wish to get involved with the club this year - whether it’s playing, scoring, umpiring, coaching, helping with the ground or even making the teas - then please get in touch.
Secretary, Wymeswold CC
