The telephone box in the Stockwell, close to the village shop, was taken out of service by BT in December 2025. Ownership was transferred to Wymeswold Parish Council.
Over the next few months, BT will remove the phone equipment and the Parish Council will oversee refurbishment of the phone box to transform it into a village book exchange, like the ones in Hoton and Burton on the Wolds. The Council wants to preserve this iconic feature for generations to come. Several panes of glass need to be replaced and the box needs a coat or two of paint. Shelves will be built inside for the books.
