We are delighted to report that we have been successful in our application for an extension to our NLHF grant, with the award of another £225,000. We received the news at the end of last week. We are truly grateful to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for this grant.
The grant extension means we can continue with the repairs to the roof without a pause between the current contract and the new work. The original project, repairs to the South side of the nave roof, will be completed in the next couple of weeks, and repairs to the North side will commence next week. The scaffolding will be moved across the church for the new work.
At present, the estimated completion date is in early November. If the repairs go well, we may finish sooner.
We were also pleased to learn on Monday, that the Leicestershire Historic Churches Trust has awarded us a grant of £5,000. This contributes to our match-funding agreement with NLHF and is very welcome. We still have some money to raise, so everything helps.
Thank you to everyone who has helped with the application, fund-raising, coming along to events and moral support. We have a way to go yet, so please continue with your assistance.
Details of forthcoming events will follow soon.
