Parish Council Report March 2011

Police Report

There were two offences in February in Wymeswold. On the 15/02/11 there was a case of deception theft where a door-to-door sales person deceived a resident to part with some money. Also, on the 22/02/11 agricultural equipment was stolen from Rempstone Road. The police would like residents of Wymeswold to be on their guard and to be wary of the door-to-door callers who come to the village. If you feel threatened in any way please do not hesitate to close the door and call the police on 0116 222 2222 quoting PC Melody’s no. 2864.

Local Elections – 5th May 2011

The local elections are approaching us quickly and nomination packs are now available from the parish clerk. The deadline for nominations is midday on the 4th of April, so if you are interested in becoming a councillor please do not hesitate to contact me for a nomination pack. As a councillor you can be a voice for your community and help achieve a real change to the village. The Parish Council is always working towards improving the community and is responsible for a range of services which include, to mention just a few, the cemetery and burials, play areas such as The Washdyke, footpaths and bridleways, mowing and street lighting. If you would like any more information on the Parish Council you can visit the website at www.leicestershireparishcouncils.org or contact me using the details below.

The Pound and Cemetery

The renovation work to the Pound and cemetery is due to take place at the end of March. The Wymeswold Garden Walkabout Committee has very kindly donated a bench to be installed in The Pound once the work has been completed. The Committee is also sponsoring an info rmation plaque which will outline the history of The Pound.

The Washdyke

Now that the weather is starting to improve we can also look forward to the installation of the two new pieces of equipment for the Trim Trail on the Washdyke, and plans for the Sundial are underway. The Washdyke committee is run by volunteers and they are currently compiling a list of people who may be able to help when larger jobs need doing such as tree planting, pruning or general maintenance of the area. If you feel that this is something you would be interested in doing please let me know and I will pass on your details.
