Update on proposal for a pedestrian crossing on Far Street between the Stockwell and Wysall Lane junctions

Cllr S Bokor has been in contact with LCC Highways and outlined the concerns of parishioners regarding the suggested location of the pedestrian crossing. LCC Highways have established that in order to take proposals any further more detailed safety checks on the position of the pedestrian crossing would have to be carried out. This safety audit is costed between £10,000 and £15,000, while the whole project cost of the crossing is between £40,000 and £50,000. Until funds have been identified or allocated for the safety audit the project plans will not be taken any further.

Community Speedwatch Campaign

Cllr Ling has been co-ordinating the Community Speedwatch Scheme and has had a fantastic response from parishioners. 201 signatures have been collected for the campaign and 29 volunteers have signed up to complete the necessary training which will be at the end of August. The scheme will be up-and-running at the beginning of September.
