Wymeswold miss out
A knock of 68 from skipper Rob Pitman wasn’t enough to stop his Wymeswold side slipping to a five-wicket defeat at home to East Bridgford in Division D of the South Notts Cricket League.
Pitman won the toss and chose to bat first, but after he was out LBW only Dan Barry (20) and an unbeaten 41 from Paul Brain helped to push the final total to 188 for 9 from 45 overs.
In reply the visitors put on 67 for the first wicket and Wymeswold’s bowlers couldn’t make the breakthroughs needed. Dan Barry ended with 2 for 38 as Bridgford reached the victory target with two overs to spare for the loss of five wickets.
Meanwhile in Division L of the league Wymeswold 2nds enjoyed a five wicket win at Collingham 3rds. The home side batted first and made 167 for 7 from 40 overs with Andy Shelton, Nick Hando and Courtney Nangle all taking two wickets each.
In reply Dennis Wright hit 43 and then Ethan Mugglestone (44no) and Leo Coggan (19no) saw the Wold home in the 36th over for the loss of five wickets.
