First win for Wymeswold
A half-century from newcomer Dom Warne and a tight bowling display was the key to Wymeswold’s seven wicket win at home to Plumtree 3rds – their first since being promoted to Division D of the South Notts Cricket League.
The visitors batted first in a game reduced to 36 overs a side due to the threat of rain, and tight bowling from Harry Scoble with 1 for 8 from 9 overs put pressure on the batsmen. Harry’s brother Luke then took 2 for 14 from 9 overs as Plumtree ended on 90 for 6 in 36 overs.
In reply Warne hit 52 including five boundaries and Luke Scoble added 18 as Wymeswold reached the target in just 13.5 over for the loss of three wickets.
Meanwhile in Division L of the league veteran, Richard Bowley carried his bat through the innings making an unbeaten 87, but still ended on the losing side as Wymeswold 2nds missed out at Coddington and Winthorpe.
Bowley was helped by Andy Shelton (35) and Charles Edwards (25no) as the Wold reached 174 for 5 in 36 overs, but the home side clinched victory with two overs to spare for the loss of just three wickets.
